Budget cuts to law enforcement effect you. Lack of funding equals less police available, resulting in a rise in criminal activity. Protection of property, family and neighborhood depends more on our citizens themselves. During the past months, as a community service, Gary Philp Humboldt County Sheriff, Kris Kitna Fortuna Chief of Police, Duane Rigge Fortuna City Manager, Franklin Stover Editor of the Humboldt Beacon, and Eel River Toastmasters, have joined in a community project which includes making educational articles available to help preserve the safety and welfare of our citizens. These articles have included information on neighborhood watch groups, evicting drug dealers, recognizing drug houses, using intervention to save a friend of family member on drugs, protecting your home from burglaries, avoiding money scams, and domestic violence, as well as many other topics.
During the duration of this community project, Toastmasters International will provide speakers free of charge for the purpose of educating citizens on subjects that support community service based organizations. A video which details how to evict drug dealers anonymously is available to groups. Abuse and domestic violence have been a topic in high demand. As a result questions on abuse can be sent to the Eureka Tribune at http://www.eurekatribune.com/community.html Ask anything you wish anonymously. Questions will be addressed and answered collectively in the articles presented by Rebecca Kimbel.
If you are a local organization needing speakers, call Vina Lewis of the Eel River Toastmasters at 725-5927 or send requests to contact@rebeccakimbel.com
The services listed herein educate citizens on how to protect themselves and their neighborhoods. They teach the art of prevention on many levels. We can prevent crime by making it very inconvenient to carry out . We can stop crimes before they create damage or harm, by using wisdom presented in these articles. It is with deep respect we thank Gary Philp, Kris Kitna, Duane Rigge , Franklin Stover and Toastmasters International for their heartfelt contribution to our community. These dedicated people volunteered their services for this endeavor. They are exemplary community leaders. We are proud they are OUR leaders.
